New York! It's rooftop season. It's finally, actually rooftop season. And this summer, our favorite destination is the gorgeous, unforgettable Monarch.
Just off a major redesign, Monarch stretches over 5,000 square feet, perched on the 18th floor above West 35th Street at Herald Square. Of course, the spacious rooftop, with awe-inspiring views up onto the Empire State Building, is an undeniable draw, particularly with plenty of cozy couches built for kicking back and relaxing. But unlike many New York rooftops, Monarch's indoor space is just as enticing, with vintage brick, white wood paneling, and inviting spaces to lounge.
It's not a true rooftop experience without a drink in hand, of course. Modern cocktails include creative libations like the "#Summerbody" (Plymouth gin, muddled cucumber and kale, lime, and jasmine) and the "You Can't Beet Me" (mezcal, yellow Chartreuse, roasted beets, orange, and lime). Beer, rosé and plenty of bubbles round out the drinks. And plenty of snacks are on-hand, from tiger shrimp dumplings to a "skinny" lobster roll.
With a capacity of 400, event options are endless, whether corporate gatherings or private celebrations. Great drinks, chic surrounds, and that view -- what's more to say?
