Dallas might be the homeland of Tex-Mex, but Dallas-based mini-chain, Meso Maya, proves it can pull off authentic Mexican cuisine, as well. Meso Maya’s executive chef, Nico Sanchez, started working in bakeries and kitchens at the age of nine — later traveling from state to state throughout Mexico, learning the culinary craft of each region.
Sanchez’s best secrets? Sauces made from scratch, hand-ground tortillas, and home-made adobos and salsas. Every dish is a memory-filled creation, prepared with reverence to Sanchez’s favorite Mexican states.
Meso Maya’s menu features some well-known favorites. Their classic Carne Asada, for example: wood-fired marinated steak with a house-made sweet corn tamale, black beans, knob onions, queso fresco, and hand-made corn tortillas. But you’ll also find new treats to try, like Chuleta de Puerco: a wood-fired bone-in pork chop, elote con crema, Mexican calabacitas, and pipian rojo sauce.
Sip on their surprisingly delicious Avocado Margarita with fresh muddled avocado, pineapple and lime juices, triple sec, and casa noble crystal tequila. Save some room for flan de queso, pastel de chocolate, or pastel de moras!
With food and drink this fanciful, it’s no surprise that Meso Maya has expanded from their Dallas flagship, now with four event locations. Private indoor dining or semi-private patio seating is available, perfect for your casual cocktails party or formal celebration.
