Often called the "Oscars of the food world," the James Beard Awards are considered by many in the United States to be the highest honor that the culinary scene has to bestow. Last night, at the Lyric Opera of Chicago, the James Beard Foundation celebrated chefs, restaurateurs, designers, and beverage professionals from across the country. 

As every year, many Tripleseat venues were proudly represented amongst the winners. 

"Outstanding Restaurateur" -- honoring a prominent restaurateur who has been working in the field for more than a decade -- was awarded to Caroline Styne of The Lucques Group in Los Angeles, including Tripleseat venues Lucques and a.o.c.. Jody Adams of Boston was inducted into the prestigious "Who's Who of Food and Drink"; her restaurants include venues TRADE, Porto, and Saloniki. So were Lally Brennan and Ti Adelaide Martin, the tremendous women at the head of the venerable Commander's Palace in New Orleans.

And perhaps most moving of all, the "Humanitarian of the Year" prize was awarded to chef José Andrés (owner of ThinkFoodGroup, which includes minibar, Jaleo, Chino Poblano, and many others), honoring his work together with his organization World Central Kitchen -- which provided millions of meals to Puerto Ricans in the aftermath of Hurricane Maria, as well as other laudable humanitarian efforts.
