There's something undeniably romantic about getting married at a winery. But there's something undeniably convenient about getting married in a city -- especially a city like New York, with its near-infinite array of wedding vendors, not to mention hotels and attractions for out-of-town guests.
So perhaps City Winery, right in the downtown neighborhood of SoHo, is the best of both worlds.
Manhattan's only working winery, all exposed wood and stainless steel tanks, has the rustic-meets-modern ambience that makes for an atmospheric, unusual venue. (And did we mention the wine on tap -- straight from the barrels?) The winery and barrel room can host guests of up to 185 for a cocktail hour before a seated dinner; or a smaller group of 40 to 70 for a seated dinner in that room itself. Meanwhile, a second-floor loft provides another option for intimate groups, with a modern-day New York vibe of high ceilings and exposed brick.
Their 7500-square-foot restaurant can host up to 185 guests for dinner and dancing, or 300 for a standing, cocktail-style reception. A music venue as well as a restaurant and winery, City Winery also has a state-of-the-art sound system and a large stage, ideal for whatever band or DJ that a couple wishes to bring in. What's more, the venue's numerous private dining rooms and greenrooms can all be used during an event, whether as a bridal suite or a staging area for the bridal party.
Food and beverage, it's no surprise, are top-notch. City Winery wines (and spirits, should you wish) flow freely, and executive chef Mike Jeanty creates menus ranging from classic three-course seated dinners to family-style and buffet meals for something a bit less formal.
Experienced in events of all kinds, City Winery has a dedicated Event Planner to help the couple through every aspect of the process. Catering, staffing, and tables are all handled in-house; for everything else you need in a wedding, City Winery can recommend vendors it's worked with again and again, knowing they'll deliver on the big day.
